AF Live Deploys PK Robotic System In-the-Round for WBC Championship Boxing

U.K. production specialists AF Live deployed an expansive PK Sound T10 / T8 robotic line source system in-the-round for the WBC Super-Featherweight championship bout at Southampton's St. Mary's Stadium.

Stadium boxing presents a unique audio challenge: the action sits at the centre of the bowl, the audience surrounds it on all sides, and the production demands both visceral impact for entrances and crystal-clear speech intelligibility for announcements and broadcast.

AF Live's design met the brief with four robotic hangs arranged around the ring: the east and west-facing arrays comprised 12 T10 modules each, while the north and south-facing hangs each carried 10 T8 compact robotic modules. Eight T218 intelligent subwoofers delivered low-frequency impact, with a mix of Tx26 intelligent point source and T8 units deployed as front and in-fills.

“The results spoke for themselves,” the AF Live team commented. “Our team came away thoroughly impressed with the power, coverage and clarity achieved throughout the large venue – equally as impressive were the variable robotic actuations.”

PK's patented Multi-Axis Robotics allowed the team to mechanically tailor each array's vertical and horizontal coverage to its section of the stadium in real time – focusing energy on occupied seating, avoiding reflective surfaces, and ensuring every fan heard every word and felt every entrance.

The deployment marks another milestone in PK Sound's expanding U.K. presence, following the launch of PK Sound U.K. and a growing roster of British partners adopting robotic line source technology for sporting events, touring, and installations.
