Two decades from a Calgary garage to a global leader in loudspeaker technology. The short version: we refuse to accept that the status quo is good enough.
Milestones are dated to when they were announced. The full record of recent years lives in the Newsroom.
PK’s founders begin building loudspeakers in a garage – custom boxes made for the electronic-music events they were running themselves, and tested at those same shows.

PK gets its start at the Village Stage at Shambhala Music Festival, where the team builds the relationships that will grow the company internationally. Two decades on, PK systems still anchor stages at the festival every year.

PK Sound is incorporated in Calgary, formalizing a company built from custom loudspeakers, electronic-music events, and field testing at festivals. This establishes the company’s hands-on, deployment-led approach to product development.

PK begins its long-running relationship with Excision. The collaboration becomes an important platform for touring, product testing, and building PK’s reputation in bass music.

The team commits full-time and releases its first commercial loudspeaker systems. PK shifts from an event-rooted production venture toward a scalable professional-audio manufacturer.

PK opens a San Francisco operating base, creating its first physical U.S. foothold and supporting West Coast touring, festivals, and logistics.

PK supports Skrillex’s Full Flex Express rail tour across Canada. The technically demanding tour gives the company an early, high-profile proof point beyond its Western Canadian festival base.

Development begins on Trinity, PK’s actuated robotic line array, supported by the National Research Council of Canada. PK moves from building strong loudspeakers to creating a protected technology platform.

PK’s U.S. patent for remotely adjustable line-array geometry is granted as Trinity enters commercialization, protecting the technology at a critical point in the company’s growth.

Trinity makes its landmark festival debut on the bassPOD stage at EDC Las Vegas. The deployment begins PK’s long-running relationship with Insomniac and proves robotic coverage control in a demanding festival environment.

PK launches the Gravity 30 and Gravity 218 subwoofers. Gravity is selected for the U.S. tour of Hamilton and sold to PRG, expanding PK beyond EDM into major touring and theatre.

EDC Mexico hosts PK’s largest Trinity deployment to date, for an audience exceeding 110,000. The event proves the system at international main-stage scale.

Dierks Bentley’s Mountain High Tour specified PK systems across more than 60 major venues, including a sold-out Madison Square Garden show. It becomes a major cross-genre touring breakthrough for the brand.

PK releases T10, translating robotic multi-axis coverage control into a medium format and opening a much larger regional touring and rental market.

Polar Audio Guangzhou is appointed exclusive distributor for China, marking PK Sound’s first formal distribution appointment in the Asia-Pacific region.

During the live-event shutdown, PK accelerates its evolution into a global technology manufacturer, investing in engineering, software, networking, operations, brand, and standardized manufacturing.
PK takes possession of and moves into a 50,000-sq. ft. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Rocky View County, materially expanding production and operational capacity.

PK unveils its reimagined brand, Trinity Black platform, PK Cell architecture, and an early preview of PK .dynamics, reframing the company as ‘The Robotic Line Array Company.’

Trinity Black formally launches as PK’s next-generation large-format robotic line source. T218 follows, creating a fully networked flagship system for the emerging .dynamics ecosystem.

PK releases fourth-generation DSP presets across the entire Trinity Series, developed in collaboration with Paul Bauman and Ben Cabot. The V4 presets lift maximum SPL for Trinity Black, T10 and T218, and hold a consistent voicing through every symmetric, asymmetric and tapered horizontal configuration – establishing the development process PK still uses for DSP work.

FACE becomes PK’s Exclusive Distributor for Benelux and DACH expanding PK's footprint into Europe

Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, and Busta Rhymes tour North America on the NY State of Mind Tour using PK systems and .dynamics. The run provides major hip-hop touring proof across arenas and amphitheatres.

Adagio Pro becomes exclusive distributor for Southern Europe – Spain, Italy, and Portugal – extending PK’s European footprint.

PK releases .dynamics V1.0, unifying venue modelling, robotic optimization, DSP control, live monitoring, and diagnostics in one end-to-end software platform.
Dave Chappelle tour with OSA International demonstrate PK’s intelligibility and consistent arena coverage in a demanding spoken-word application, expanding the brand’s proof beyond music touring.

PK introduces the T8 and T18 robotic line-source system, reducing the size and capital threshold for adopting robotic soundfield control and opening broader regional-rental, theatre, corporate, and installation opportunities.

PK launches the Tx14 and Tx26 intelligent point-source modules, followed by the Ts15 compact intelligent subwoofer. The releases broaden PK into a more complete mobile and installation ecosystem.

publitec becomes PK’s exclusive Certified Sales Partner for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, strengthening local demonstration, sales, and support capacity in the DACH market.

PK launches .dynamics MOVE for phones and tablets, allowing engineers to walk a venue and adjust robotic coverage in real time.

Conrad Whelan, founding engineer at Uber, is appointed Chairman, strengthening PK’s governance with deep experience in technology companies, scaling, and innovation.

PK Sound U.K. launches with a direct presence in one of the world’s most influential professional-audio markets, strengthening local sales, demonstrations, technical support, and customer relationships.

Every PK employee is also an owner. If you want to build the next generation of live sound rather than read about it, there are open roles.
